What is Sunday like at Westside?

While worship is something that we can do in every part of our lives, our Sunday gatherings are an essential part of Christ-centered discipleship. Each week, we gather to worship God through singing, partaking in communion, hearing His word preached, and fellowshipping with one another.

Frequently Asked Questions

Worship

What should I bring?

Each Sunday, we go through the Bible verse-by-verse and chapter-by-chapter. While it’s not required, you can bring a Bible with you to follow along! If you don’t have one, we also have Bibles located in the auditorium that you can use.

What should I wear?

At Westside, you’ll see a diverse array of clothes and styles – from Sunday best to jeans and t-shirts! We believe God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7), so you’re invited to come as you are and wear what is comfortable for you.

What is worship service like at Westside?

Each Sunday, we sing a few worship songs together, take communion, and hear a message directly from the Bible. Our messages are based on expository preaching – which means we dive into the Bible to seek what the original author intended to say, what the text reveals about God, and how we can apply those truths in our lives today. Services last for about an hour and 15 minutes.

Do you have a Bible class?

Yes! We have weekly Bible classes for all ages on Sundays at 9:00am, prior to our worship service.

What is your music like?

Each Sunday, we sing hymns a capella. You can expect to hear songs with theologically rich lyrics that are taken directly from Scripture.

Do you expect me to give an offering?

If you are just checking out our church, there is no expectation for you to give. Although the church is funded by the generosity of its attendees, God doesn’t need our money. In fact, we do not even collect an offering during our services. There are giving boxes posted for anyone who wishes to give. We believe giving is an act of worship for followers of Jesus as we learn to trust God more with all of our resources.

Kids

What programs do you have for my kids?

There are weekly Bible classes for infants through 6th grade on Sunday mornings at 10:00am. The congregation is blessed to have many members willing to teach our children God’s Word. These teachers use the class time to share their faith and foster in each child a desire to follow and study God’s Word.

What about my middle/high schooler?

Our middle school and high school students (grade 7-12) meet at 10:00am for Bible study and fellowship.

What if my baby starts crying during the service?

We completely understand that little ones can get restless! If your baby starts crying, you’re welcome to step into the lobby, where you can continue watching and listening to the message while attending to your child.
